Delivery - a very brief synopsis of Philip’s major delivery record

 

Colmore BID

 

The successful steering of the interests and investment of the Business Investment District on public realm improvement - the ambition to civilise the streets at the heart of Birmingham. 2016-to present.

 

Graven Hill Village Development Company

 

188 hectare self and custom build project.  Largest in the UK.  Created a strong delivery team and infrastructure for the first batch of sales in 2016.  Legacy - sales rolling into 2017.

 

Millennium Point

 

Revitalised a moribund, ill-used building into an active institution active on Birmingham’s learning and cultural scene. 

 

Legacy - cultural host with  significant new audience and active part of BCU expansion.  Income strong and stable at £6m per annum

 

Big City Plan

 

For Birmingham City Council.  Design-led 800 hectare plan for the 30-year future expansion of Birmingham’s city centre; communication, stakeholder engagement, politics, politics, regeneration, design, funding.  Legacy - HSBC investment, growth of Southside, context for arrival of HS2.

 

Big City Plan Capital project delivery; Eastside City Park, Golden Square, Digbeth Institute, Curzon Street Station.  Legacy - key public space projects in Westside, Jewellery Quarter, Eastside.  Retained heritage.

 

Both the Golden Square and Eastside City Park were design-led competitions to choose the winning team to execute the project.

 

National Bid Big Lottery

Lighting Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham

 

Philip led the bid to celebrate the visible iconography of Spaghetti Junction with an audacious and large scale proposal to create a field of light wands waving in the breeze above the road network and integrate it into new housing and infrastructure. The project was taken to second place and was ultimately beaten by the Sustrans network.
